Kudos for Fanning

One of the things I left out of my two state golf stories was that quite the gallery built up during the course of the seven-hole playoff that decided the boys individual title. All the boys and girls teams were done and hanging out at the Airport Golf Course by the time Cheyenne Central’s Kyle Fanning and Evanston’s Dylan Lym teed off to start their playoff.

Many of those kids were eager to finish the awards, board the bus and head home. Instead, they saw an epic seven-hole playoff that Fanning won.

Here’s was girls champion Emily Woodard of Central had to say about following that playoff.

“There is no way I could ever go into a seven-hole playoff,” Woodard said. “Kyle absolutely kept himself in it and I’m very proud of him. I give him a lot of credit.

“On the second hole, he missed a little two-foot putt, but he didn’t let it affect him. He kept himself in it. I probably would have cracked after missing that putt. He kept his calm and played great. It was amazing to watch.”
