Joy of Tennis

My tennis skills are reminicent of those put on display by Milosh the tennis “pro” on Seinfeld — I’m no better than a ham sandwich on the court.
Maybe if I had the opportunity to attend the QuickStart Tennis Program, I could at least hold a racket without bleeding and/or crying. Unfortunately, I attended the Mr. Pee Wee Tennis camp as a kid and I was more interested in the sweatbands. Needless to say, my career went as far as bicycle with no wheels.
The assignment was fun. It was tough to not take a good photo (aside from really bad light). The photos in the slide show above are just a few of my favorites despite the fact that I envy the kids for their superior talent.
I’m almost ashamed, but not surprised to admit that a group of 4-6-year-olds posseses more talent than I. Oh well, at least I can take solace in… well, there isn’t much I can latch on to. *Sigh*
Thanks for looking.
The Professors of Post 6 Baseball

Usually, I work on a tight deadline. That’s the lay of the land (or insert some other adage expressing the stresses of having a job).
Anyway, working with American Legion Post 6 has always been fun and they usually put my back to the wall. If they play at night, I’m forced to shoot, edit, transmit, drink a root beer and eat an all-beef frank before deadline. For this particular shoot, however, I had all afternoon… as in, all afternoon before the team left for the northwest regional in Medford, Ore., later that day.
Cloud 9

This is the finished product in all it's glory. We were able to avoid all the distractions and poses that helped the other shots lack in goodness. In my opinion, this was more difficult than training for six hours a day. Just ask Stacy.
Stacy Farman is more man than me… but only in the figurative sense, of course. She has completed an astonishing 30-plus triathlons since 2006 when she finished her first event. Since 2006, I’ve ran 11 miles, walked 13 and swam 100 meters (the current carried me 94). As for bicycling, not since the early 90s when my Schwinn’s brakes blew out.
Anyway, Farman’s badness aside, I shot a portrait of her. It was a difficult 15 minutes dealing with bad skies, wires, buildings, bushes and grease on my favorite pink(ish) shirt.
No B.S. from this bull rider shoot

LCCC bull rider Justin Thomas poses for a portrait on Happy Jack Road. Moments later he was struck by a Mack Truck, which subsequently exploded.
Recently, I hung out with and shot LCCC bull rider Justin Thomas on Happy Jack Road. The hanging out entailed making sure the speeding traffic did not strike him during the photo op. He was, however, grazed by a semi, but he’s a bull rider, so it exploded and he walked away unscathed.
Spring fever

Andrew Parker of Laramie goes airborne out of the half pipe Wednesday afternoon at Winter Park Ski Resort in Winter Park, Colo. Temperatures reached near 52 degrees Fahrenheit and provided riders with warm spring conditions. Winter Park closes for the season on Sunday, April 19. AAron Ontiveroz/staff
Yesterday, April 8, I took a nice mid-week trip to Winter Park to ride the nearly closed mountain. This Sunday (April 19), the park will close until next season. Though conditions were not nearly as awesome as my trip to Steamboat last weekend, the warm weather provided a nice spring day to mess around in the terrain park during the afternoon. Mostly, I photographed my two buddies as they worked the jumps and half pipe. Nobody suffered an injury nor did anyone die. In my book, that is a great afternoon.
