What: United Blood Services announced Wednesday an urgent need for blood donations. In the past four weeks, demand has significantly outpaced supply.

Since a high percentage of regular donors gave blood earlier this year, many are not eligible to give right now. New donors are needed to fill the gap.

Where to donate: United Blood Services, 112 E. Eighth Ave., Cheyenne

More information: United Blood Services in Cheyenne is open Monday through Saturday with varying hours. Donors may call 638-3326 or visit www.UnitedBloodServices.org to make an appointment. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16-17 years old must have signed permission from a parent or guardian.
