Fourth Day of Giving offers many ways to give

What: Fourth annual Cheyenne Day of Giving
When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 9
Where: Cheyenne-Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park
Six ways to give:
1. Donate food and personal-care items for local charities: Donate all sizes of canned and nonperishable food, as well as items such as diapers, shampoo, toothpaste and disposable razors.
2. Donate blood: Make an appointment to donate to United Blood Services by calling one of the numbers below or donate at the blood center anytime between May 5 and May 16 in the name of Day of Giving. Donors must be older than 17 and weigh more than 110 pounds.
3. Donate leftover prescription medications: Bring medication in original bottle or blister pack, scratch out patient’s name and deposit in bin staffed by the Wyoming Department of Health.
4. Register as a bone marrow donor: Be between 18 and 60 years old and in good general health, answer some confidential health questions and do four cheek swabs for tissue typing.
5. Register as an organ and tissue donor: Sign up with the Colorado Donor Alliance at the event or go to www.donoralliance.org.
6. Donate cash to the Day of Giving for purchase of nonperishable food and toiletry items for local charities throughout the year.
