Well, I made it — at least to the hotel.
The flight from Denver to Fort Lauderdale was packed but pretty smooth. And I didn’t have to sit next to any annoying people.
There were a handful of UW fans on the plane dressed in their Cowboys garb. Also saw a few Oklahoma Sooners fans as they play at Miami Saturday night in one of the more intriguing college football games this week.
Once I get to a city, espeically one I have never been before, the adventure truly begins.
After getting a rental car I had to get directions and find the hotel. I am not staying in Fort Lauderdale. I’m north in Boca Raton.
Barry, a trainee at the rental car place, was awesome. At first I was leery. With my luck I get this trainee who doesn’t know how to spell his own name, let alone give me instructions somewhere.
Barry gave me directions even I couldn’t screw up.
It was funny though, he asked me what brought me to Florida. I said a football game.
He asked me college or pro. I said college.
He assumed I was here for the Oklahoma-Miami game. When I said I was here for Wyoming-Florida Atlantic, he kind of looked at me funny (I get that a lot from people for some reason).
But I am here and trying to beat the heat and humidity. But it sure beats the 30 degrees or whatever it was this morning when I left Cheyenne.
Now I just need to find the stadium for tomorrow’s game. Better leave early. Hahaha.
The team has already had its walk-through at the the stadium and right now is enjoying some down time before a lot of meetings and film work this evening.
Check in with you later.
